Over 100 Twitter Accounts Using the Hashtag #IStandWithPutin get Banned from the Platform
The microblogging platform has banned more than 100 user accounts that was using pro-Russian hashtag #IStandWithPutin in violation of the social media twitter's "manipulation and spam policy.", days after the hashtag trended on platform amid the Ukraine crisis.
The move was taken after the tweet went viral with this hashtag which has no real profile picture and only few followers, the researchers are trying to find how and why it went viral, the news first reported by NBC.
A twitter spokesperson confirmed to Insider- “We identified and permanently suspended a small number of accounts for violations of our platform manipulation and spam policy, Our teams continue to investigate."
Last week twitter restricted two of the Russian news accounts ‘RT & Sputnik’ that are banned by other tech platforms like Facebook, YouTube. These actions are taken by tech companies against Russia’s invasion in Ukraine.
