In response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, YouTube has blocked news channels RT & Sputnik across Europe which are backed by Russia. Google confirmed the news on Twitter. Yesterday, Meta (formally Facebook) blocked RT & Sputnik both on Instagram and Facebook after receiving requests from a number of governments in the European Union.

"Due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, we're blocking YouTube Channels connected to RT and Sputnik across Europe, effective immediately. it'll take time for our system to fully ram up. Our teams continue to monitor the situation around the clock to take swift action." - Company added. In response, Russia also has restricted some US tech platforms in their country including Twitter, & Facebook.
