Whatsapp's Communities Allow Large Group Chats for Schools & Organizations
WhatsApp is adding a new feature - Communities for users to chat in large groups which are intended for organizations, clubs, and schools to coordinate and share media. The social messaging app also expanded the group voice call ability to handle up to 32 participants and Emoji reactions to messages. WhatsApp confirmed the news through its official blog post.
"We've been focused on how we can help people have the next best thing to an in-person conversation when they want to talk to an individual or a group of friends or family."- Whatsapp added.
The feature is rolling out for larger groups of people like schools, local clubs, and non-profit organizations. The communities feature is fully packed with Admin control features like deleting messages, larger group voice calls, etc. The announcement hints that the first look of the feature is ready to use, but many new features can be expected in near future to reduce the overload of larger chats.
"We're also making several improvements to how groups work on WhatsApp — whether or not they are part of a community.", Whatsapp mentioned - "Communities are inherently private, which is why we will continue to protect messages with end-to-end encryption.
